Bruce flew into Bend, Oregon, to the headquarters of ‘Two Old Hippies,’ the company that

recently purchased Weber (Sound to Earth Ltd.), to record playing 24 different instruments

recently finished by Weber and displayed at the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. The instruments

included various Mandolins, Mandolas, Mandocellos, Octave Mandolins, a Guitar and a newly

developed instrument (by Bruce Weber) a Sapranolin. The Sapranolin is a saprano version of

their Mandolins made in all the models. It has an 11 inch scale and is tuned a octave above

Mandola (CGDA). The recordings will be used for web site soundclips on the company

website webermandolins.com.

Meeting with the folks that will now be making Weber acoustic instruments in Bend, many of whom are seasoned builders that relocated from Logan, Montana, to stay with Weber, left me confident that their instruments will continue a deserved reputation as a company that hand builds very high quality instruments with the players individual preferences in mind. The new managing staff, a virtual who’s who of high caliber music industry professionals, have tapped Bruce Weber himself to oversee operations and continue to do high end custom building. I look forward to a good future for this company!
